Malcolm, this looks marvellous! It's almost a 3d effect. Pastelmat is my favourite paper to use with coloured pencils and what I like is that you can put light over dark, it's brilliant.

Thank you Margaret. I'm part way through my first coloured pencil piece on Pastel Mat and I agree that it's an excellent surface. Pity that it's so expensive though.

I acquired a sample pack of Pastel Mat paper and tried it out with Koh-i-Noor soft pastels. I really like this paper. The piece that I used is only 7" x 10" and, with the soft pastels, I found getting the detail that I wanted to be a little difficult. I think that I shall do my next exercise in Coloured Pencil to see how that goes.
