What a lovely painting of a beautiful bird of prey. what type of paper do you usually use for your coloured pencils? I always use a smooth or Hot Pressed paper for all my coloured pencils. have you tried with of these? well done Malcolm

Thank you Tao. I have been using pastel papers, one for soft pastels and one for pastel pencil but found that I couldn't lay down many layers (6 or so, tops) before the tooth on the paper was lost. I had not thought of hot pressed or smooth as I didn't expect it to have enough tooth. Is there a specific paper that you use?

You have done a marvellous job with this beautiful bird Malcolm. I am having another try with coloured pencils and I'm also using hot pressed paper, it's so smooth to work on. I tend to use Bockingford paper which I find is great, it's very reasonable so if I make mistakes it's no big deal! I use it for all my watercolour flower painting too.

Lovely colouring and great detail in the eye.

Done in coloured pencil but trying out Uart 400 sanded paper. This grade of paper is a bit too harsh for my taste I think. I shall have to try the 600 or 800 and see if they are better for me.
