Country Lane

It seems like sacrilege making any criticism of this lovely and evocative painting, but the only thing I'm not certain of is the strengh of the reflections in the puddles - I think it would be a little darker (by one tone at least) bearing in mind the strength of the shadow on the ground; and I think it likely there'd be some reflection at the right hand sides.

Hi Robert, Thanks for the comments and I agree with you about the reflection. I have actually already applied one extra wash to darken them, with the above result, but was not game to overdo it by trying again. Instead, I plumped for maintaining the transparency of the the puddles rather than risk muddying them by overworking. If you look closely, a small part of the tree trunk is reflected but in a similar tone to the ground. Could have done with a bigger tonal change there to define it. I said to myself, enough fiddling before I spoil it!! Thanks again for the comment, much appreciated.
