I like the colour element (as I said on the Forum, on which you profited from sage advice: though I think you'd have got there on your own), though this would work well in monotone (and did), just as successfully.

Thank you to everyone for your kind and encouraging words. Thank you for taking the time, I appreciate it. I was blown away with the shadows when I came across the scene (and the rose was just ripe to be the focus of colour), so had to capture it. I'm quite pleased with the end result and will certainly be taking this approach to more scenes.

A4 ink and wash. A delightful public garden, when the shadow play was looking great. I've aimed at capturing them and a focal interest of a climbing rose.
