Very effective, Glynne. I don't really know what a collograph is but it makes a lovely image, I like it

Thank-you for your comment. A collograph is a simple form of etching print. I use mounting card and after drawing the image onto it I cut into the lines with a scapel, I also cut away layers of the board to create darker tones. The card is then sealed with varnish and when dry it can be inked up ready to print. For the fine detailed work I do you do need access to an etching press to get a good image. The collograph is not as robust as a metal plate but I can generally get between 8 and 10 prints from a card plate. The advantage of the process is that it is easy to produce a plate at home and no nasty acids or chemicals are needed.

This is another collograph but much smaller this time - only 7cm x 11.5cm. This was cut into card and then prior to printing I sprinkled chalk onto the plate to create a snow effect. I used the prints for some of my Christmas cards this year.
