Learsout at you Glennis - quite a stunner

So much brilliant work on POL at the moment, and one can't comment on all of it - but I had to comment on this gorgeous painting of my favourite flower. Lovely; and your portrait of your grandmother is impressive, too.

A gorgeous red, beautiful poppy Glennis.

Stephen, Michael, Robert & Carole - Many thanks for your encouraging comments. A flower which I always enjoy painting.

Vibrant and lively, Glennis, what a gorgeous red. I love poppies too. I've often been spotted in neighbours' front gardens shaking their yellow and orange Welsh Poppy seed heads into my hand. Although they're weeds, they don't seem that happy in my London clay garden. I had to sprinkle their seeds around every year til they settled in. I haven't painted them in watercolour yet as I wasn't into w'c painting last year, but I'm looking forward to it this Spring when they come up. What red did you use here?

Thank you Caroline, the colour is mainly cadium red and i add a bit of alizarin in for the the shadow

Can never resist a poppy - and this one is very hard to resist. It's beautifully painted, Glennis!
