Black Flat Coated Retreivers

Well - you have melted my heart and made my day! I have had four Flat Coats now - three black and the last one left is a liver. You've mad a fantastic job of a watercolour painting of these two - so hard to do black coats, but you have pulled it off. If you want to see my Flat Coat, look at Julia Benning's portfolio on this gallery and look for the liver Flat Coat pastel entitled 'Milly'. Are these your dogs or do they belong to friends? Just love it - the one of the left is so like my second Flat Coat, darling Holly. You'll have me in tears soon. Thank you for posting them.

Thank you for your lovely remarks, it makes it all worthwhile when someone else appreciates your work. They are not my dogs unfortunately - a commission for a gentleman in Leicester. Lovely dogs but quite different facially.

I think the dog on the left is much younger than the one on the right. You can usually tell by the ears in that the younger dog has shorter ears. I have a photo of my Holly and sweet Poppy who was only 2 when Holly died and the dogs look just like these two - one at 9 and one at 2. We lost Poppy a year past in February, and only have Milly left. How you miss them. I bet the gentleman was thrilled to bits with your superb portrait.

Thea - I have looked at the picture of Milly and it is a beautiful portrait at different stages in her life that is a wonderful way to portray her, very clever. Thank you again for your comments on my paintings.
