This is really well done Glennis, you have beautifully captured the concentration of a child. I love your skin tones, may I ask what colours you use in the shadows of her skin ? I am working on a similar portrait at the moment, but just can't seem to get the shadows right : light enough for a child, and dark enough to provide some contrast and definition.

Because she was so fair, the main colour was perm. rose with a touch of ultramarine blue added and I think (I have these colours on the palette and I just dabble until I get what I think is right) a touch of burnt sienna, hope this helps. Thanks Glennis, I'll give it a try. Moderation with regard to saturation is obviously the clue when childrens portraits are concerned.
