Rose Spray - Background or No Background!

Rose Spray - Background or No Background!

Definitely no background. I am very ambivalent about backgrounds in general and in this case I think the beautiful colours of the roses are shown to best advantage on white paper. I think you would dilute the clean effect if you distracted with colour behind the flowers. It's a lovely painting of the roses and it needs no further adornment in my view.

I'm with Thea, definitely NO background. Beautifully painted roses that will glow on white paper.

Very delicately painted and they definitely require no background.

I add my voice to the chorus - no background - just leave it as it is - a lovely delicate study.

gorgeous roses, Glennis, beautifully painted

Definitely not Glennis. Beautiful just as they are!

Hi Glennis, I havnt had a lot of experience with painting flowers, the only pne i did had a very dark background, but in this instance I don't think a darker background wouldn't have helped. Which ever I still admire your work.

and it's a 'no background' from me too - lovely just as they are!

What lovely shapes you have painted within the bouquet. Beautiful

Thank you all for taking the time to comment, much appreciated. No background it is!

Definitely needs a background... just kidding... I agree with all the above, it's lovely as it is, well painted Glennis, and the clean white background sets off the delicate blooms beautifully.

Fantastic roses, very well painted, it is a "no background" from me too!

Yes, I agree - no background! Lovely painting. Beautiful flowers.

They've all said it, and you've agreed; but just for the record I agree with all that's been said. Lovely painting, doesn't need anything else.

This stands out very well, all has been said and I agree for what it's worth 'no background' Glennis.

I am not sure whether to put a dark background in or not, any comments would be much appreciated.
