Thank you all for your comments. This bird of prey is at the Newent International Bird Sanctuary, Gloucestershire. Fiona - I started this two days ago - altogether about 8 hours concentrated effort (not in one go though), pick it up and put it down style which is easy with pencils.

I certainly like the texture you have got with using the pencils on the pastel paper as it makes the feathers look real. It's a lovely painting.
