Absolutely brilliant Gill and beautifully painted.

More of my favourite flowers (and the favourites of many of us, I think): I like the way you have them standing proud of the surface - is that just thick paint, or modelling with paste; or maybe painting 'em with thick white paint first and then going over them with the red, either glazing or solid colour? All good ways to go. Ref flowers are perhaps a little easier, but when I first tried to paint yellow ones, eg with gorse, I just couldn't get them to really stand out in acrylic, until I used a very opaque white (Chroma White, to be exact, though a good quality Titanium from Winsor and Newton or Daler Rowney's Cryla worked just as well) and then added the strong yellow on top: problem solved, and that's what I've done ever since; sometimes in oil, too.
