I would never have guessed that that was Orkney, particularly as our guide on our one day visit said that no trees grow there. Or is this the effect of global warming? Lovely sketch though!

Thanks for your comments everyone! Linda your guide was being economical with the truth as we do have trees but not a lot! Certain places seem to be good for them but if they don’t get protection from the wind they are very small or just don’t survive. We have a few small forests and this painting is Happy Valley lovingly created by an old Orcadian now long gone. It’s a magical place!
