Hello Colleen, I took the photo by accident, he was stood with his head up, and as i clicked the shutter he suddenly dropped his head to chew his chest, probably took the rider by suprise as well. There was no courage in choosing this format or any deep meaning, i was more interested in the whether i could reproduce the sheen of his coat where it lays over muscle and arteries, also the only canvas i had at the time was a narrow one.
