Ah, memories - of Mr Bright in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, affectionately known as Slasher Bright: you were lucky to leave with both earlobes intact: and he gave me a haircut like Adolf Hitler's. The misery is well represented here...

Absolutely love this. The character and exactly what the little boy is feeling shows right through. Quite moving really. Super.

Oh Gerhard, that face, how have you managed to portray that depth of feeling? This made me laugh and my heart went out to him all in one go - brave wee chap with tears not far away, and at the same time he's looking pretty miffed.

Fabulous depiction of the trauma, Gerhard! Beautifully portrayed!

fantastic. Love it.

Hi all - thanks for all the lovely comments. It was a real pleasure painting this - helped by a very sympathetic paper and a lovely subject.

Haircut - watercolour on Fabriano 300gsm rough - approx 38cm x 28cm We can all sympathise with the trauma of a young boy at the barbershop - everything is daunting and frightening and if you dare to make any move not only will you ruin your haircut but you could lose a piece of your ear as well.
