Oh Gerhard, it is a stunner. I love what you have done with the background and that sort of dead green and cream, fab.The lighting and the face is superb. He seems to glow out from the screen, magical.

Transparent cool blue - not easy,but then - you knew that! Manganese Blue hue? I've thought about all the others,but the cooler they, generally, the more opaque .... I do sometimes find very watery Prussian Blue as good as anything else; if that helps. This is, by the way, a very impressive portrait.

Thanks for the comment - feedback from others is that pthalo blue seems to be the go. Robert I'll refer you back to your comment on therabbit.

Manganese blue hue would probably be a form of pthalo; don't know that you wouldn't find phtalo in its pure form a bit strong for a cool transparent blue... Comment on the rabbit - you're expecting me, at my advanced age, to remember what I said about something else? I have trouble remembering my own address....
