James was the model for the third of four demonstrations at the RSASA and sat patiently, as did the other three sitters, while four artists began their renderings. I began the work in my more usual manner with a charcoal sketch and thin oil wash underpainting. The four demonstration sessions with fourteen different artists and four different sitters were enthusiastically received and well attended.
