Open the tin, then run. Pastels are NOT easy, and you've demonstrated quite a degree of control in your first effort. Just keep practising, and do some studies in pencil of the things you want to paint in pastel; don't have to show them to anyone if you don't want to, just get used to your own handwriting; it really is just practice that gets you there: look hard, then draw.
