I love this! I used to breed & show 'goldens' in another life so can spot a poor portrait a mile away....you have caught their character & temprement to a tee. What a great Xmas present. Well done.

I bet there will be tears on Christmas Day when your friend's husband unwraps this marvellous present. I would be in pieces I think. It is a super portrait which captures these lovely dogs so well. What a nice thing to paint for somebody.
