This painting was done as a wedding anniversary present for my son and daughter-in-law who live in New Zealand and I was sent a photograph of the Kowhai tree in their garden. It was not until after I had finished the painting that I checked on Google to make sure I had the correct spelling that I found that the Kowhai tree is the unofficial flower of New Zealand. So that was very appropriate!
