I painted this scene of San Gimignano, Tuscany, from sketches and photos taken one spring. The view is from a pathway outside this beautiful and unique UNESCO heritage city, and looks across the rolling vineyards, not yet in leaf, up to the city. The field in the foreground lay fallow, and you could see the beautiful red fertile soil in the deep furrows.
