This is beautiful. How do you mean when you say the background was worked out with salt? I know nothing about painting on fabric.

Hi Diana. The fabric is completely wet, then painted rather thickly in areas where you want to have a nice effect, then unrefined salt is put on the paint itself. It can be sprinkled everwhere to have a uniform effect or you can just put it in patches. The project is then placed in the sun. When it is dried, the salt will have absorbed the paint leaving a nice effect on the cloth. Give it a try...
