Not your average vintage bus painting, but I really like the surreal element, well painted.

Thanks Tony! yes, well it did start out as a straight vintage bus scene, but somehow felt it lacked something... so it sat in the corner for 5 months until I got less 'precious' about it and added the penguins! One thing led to another and the octopus felt right haha. I've got a loose series of these in my head that i might progress with. :)

I just love this. Offbeat ideas like this are why I'm interested in art. Great work, more please.

Who cares what it means.....it’s brilliant Erik!

Thank you Fiona! It's great when people see different things in a piece of art. Yes, to me I just enjoyed painting it, but others see other meanings. Here's what someone else sent me about it (A very lovely Australian person who is an academic/philosopher). I read this and thought : 'wow' :) "The English are always so close to the seaside. We are too. The very thing that surrounds and protects them could swallow them so easily. Their civilised, industrialised, organised achievements are bright and shiny, yet the Englishman and all he represents is threatened by the sea, doesn't belong in the very element that can swallow and put an end to him and all he is. So my take is a moral tale like Coleridge's Ancient Mariner, A "Last Man" story. My story tells me that the sea is not where the man belongs, not only because he isn't kitted out for it, but your happy colourful important life raft divides his belonging from his not belonging, your life raft is the key to my story about your story."

What a quirky piece Eril! Super painting.

Eril first I apologise for calling you Erik, it wasn’t me, it was predictive text...lol Yes, wow! I don’t understand a word..lol. I see a great painting, using lots of imagination and a unique title! It’s engaging, hope you will do more.....

Sorry Cyril the bus conductor must have bad herring as he can't except a flounder for bus journey to Woolwich for 3 penguins 1 Adult & as I'm quite big for my age your have to have proof that I'm a junior octupus.......anyways he can't trawl around ....all seems a bit fishy to me😅😉😀😯

Oil on board. 60 x 60cm. Yes... bit different this one. Started off with some great old buses i took some photos of at local vintage bus day... then got a bit bored with that until the octopus arrived! Just went with the flow after that to be honest... i have no idea what it all means :)
