A very good portrait James. I like how you have managed to paint his regalia without too much detail and I particularly admire how you have painted the eyes that are watering slightly. This is very well balanced, neither flattering him or making him look too old.

Thanks for your comments. Though I became frustrated at times, I enjoyed painting the portrait. The gold braiding was the most difficult subject to paint...

A Portrait of King Charles III to mark King's coronation this year. The idea had been to attempt the style of a Hans Holbein portrait. Not having used oils for some time added to the challenge!
