You really have a lovely style Emma - this is so eye-catching.

Excellent again Emma, I agree with Julie this is a superb style you have.

An interesting technique which gives a stunning result.

Fabulous work Emma ... I know ink & wash & gouache but what do you mean resist please...trying to understand technique...

The resist is when gouache is added to areas you don't want to be black, and then indian ink laid over the whole painting- wait for it to dry then run under the tap, the gouache dissolves and leaves the underlying paper colour and a pattern of black ink. In effect the gouache acts as masking fluid.

Thank you Emma....you have reminded me that I had a go at this in art class several months ago. I didn't have much success as most of my watercolour went down the sink along with indian ink which resulted in very insipid colours. You have obviously mastered the technique very well :)

The trick is to put the gouache on quite thickly - however I have been trying this technique for over two years and I never know how it will turn out and half end up in the bin or as backgrounds for gouache paintings.

Love the ink detail here, Emma. I have not mastered it yet!!!!

Love your gallery just amazing, well done it all brilliant 😊
