Thankyou Heather and Spencer. I have been developing a more graphic style lately… it seems to be the way it’s going and I enjoy blocks of solid colour and strong lines and shapes that capture the basic qualities of a landscape and my experience of it.

This caught my eye because my children went to school in this village, so I know it well. What a beautiful landscape it is in that area, and I like the way you have painted it - the colours and the simplification of the composition. The image on my screen has a lot of the sky cropped out, and I think it works very well like this also.

Hilary Forbes, am glad to hear that you like the piece, especially as you are familiar with the location ! I also know see what you mean with regard to the cropping of sky… i also think it works , though will keep the sky as it is… This piece is painted on a square canvas though so physically it cannot be cropped! 🙂
