I'm not normally into "dead art", but this one is actually quite captivating in its simplicity

... not one of the paintings laden with dead game and fruit etc ....

Yes it is an attention grabber Dennis, of course the bird is beautifully rendered even though it is lifeless

Pessimists All too often a “Thwack” into our caravan window suggests that the bird feed we put out might be causing more harm than good. A lot are merely stunned. Might I suggest that this little fellow will soon come round, flip over & fly off. I'd like to think so – but your treatment does suggest otherwise – the black “sky”, something definitley desolate about the wing, leg & foot. Like it a lot!

Beautifully painted but terribly sad. I love the placement of the bird within the painting.

Thank you for your comments. I wanted to do something about the recent high winds we have been having and thought of an incident earlier on in the year when we found a dead bird on our path. I must admit this was painted from a photo which is not my usual practice, but wanted to paint the image nevertheless.
