Obviously this will put you in your dad-in-law's good books Bob! Very nice portrait.

Lovely cheery portrait well done!

Lovely portrait.

You don't know whether what you're doing is good or bad/indifferent? I suggest you keep doing what you're doing, because while there's still more to learn - as there is for all of us - there's a sense of a real person here, which is more than half the battle: and you started just 6 months ago, and did this? You've made a great start - do more!

This is really good Bob....nice one!

Nice portrait, Bob.

Super portrait and not only is it good it's also scary - it could almost be me right down to the cleft chin

Wow!! Thanks everyone for the amazing comments and words of encouragement! It means such a lot coming from amazing artists such as yourselves. I painted this just before Christmas but put it aside because I didn't think it captured this amazing man's joue de vivre. Sadly<Keith passed away about 15 years ago but left so many great memories. Not least being our very first meeting. He was a very tall man with a broad welsh Windsor Davis voice I was a long haired, leather trouser clad drummer and he scared the life out of me! After I left he turned to his only beloved daughter and said " What the F*** was that!!!" After that, we got on famously!! Michael, You don't happen to be welsh, by any chance??
