The tale of Tam Lin was first written down in the 16th century and later by Scottish poet Robbie Burns. There have been many retellings since. In the earlier versions there were up to 50 verses or more. These paintings inspired by a version adapted by the 1970’s by folk rock band Fairport Convention, who have condensed this sordid tale into only 21 verses, which I will put in the comments if I can. Oil on Canvas 18” x 14”
