Great composition, Dorothy, and I think you've painted his fur very well indeed...

Charming image and skilful work Dorothy.

Aw made me smile this morn Dorothy:) lovely.

Like the 3D image Dorothy. You have captured his stuborness. Is it on velour as it has a softness about it?

He's a cracker Dorothy, I love his quizzical stare.

I'm calling him Freddy, Dorothy. A real character without a doubt. Great portrayal. Josef Locke's "Donkey Serenade" is in my head..(-:

What a beautiful donkey, your treatment of his fur is so good Dorothy. I dont know why but donkeys always look so sad to me!

He's absolutely stunning, Dorothy! Love the composition and the fur is SO good!

Thank you everyone for your comments. No Carole, it is Jeremy Ford pastelmat. I have tried velour and just don't like it at all. The softness comes as the way I apply the pastel using various makes of pencil and added soft pastel sticks. Nice to know he has a name now Jim. Thank you for that. I had to listen to "Little Donkey" being whistled at my art group yesterday. Thought it was Christmas come early! Thanks Thalia about the fur. I have been trying out quite a lot of that recently.

Inspired by finding some photos from past holidays when there were numerous donkeys on British beaches. I am sure they couldn't have liked their job very much with the heavy loads they often had to carry. Pastel 7 x 9 inch
