Pedestrians by Donald McDonnell

I like the movement in these sketches.

A really good grouping of sketches

Wonderful sketches Donald, what a great idea

Very impressive sketching Donald.

Thanks Cairistiona, Heather, Frank, and George. Blue toned paper was once very popular and used by the Venetians and Turner. Because it provided a mid tone balance for the addition of darks and lights. 'Drawn to Blue' is a current drawings exhibition at the Courtauld. My approach here was to try and first capture the movement and stance and then the form. Followed by the shading for the silhouettes to show the the full figure. Using the simplest means possible. Economical art.

A group of 11 small sketches from life done in the moment. Composed on both vertical sides with a Dutch angle for a balanced arrangement. Using an ordinary blue biro pen.
