A good drawing and the eyes have it. Getting your own likeness is tough.

I agree with Heather, self portraits aren’t easy. But this is still a good drawing.

A commendable drawing Diane, full of character. Well done. I’ve never managed a good portrait of anyone, but I did find the devil is in the details, a small change can make a huge difference to whether a portrait is a likeness or just a picture of a person. So I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t give up, just do another one.

It’s a very good drawing Diane - great eyes! Selfie’s are always hard but I bet there’ll be a little bit of you there.

It's an excellent drawing Diane, you are very talented.

A very honest portrait Diane. I find self portraits a bit scary as we don’t always want to reveal ourselves as we truly are and I can never bring myself to expose all my flaws, wrinkles etc. I’m too vain. Your portrait is brave and the eyes are full of narrative.

Self portraits are very difficult, but this is a great portrait.

It's a fabulous drawing Diane, I love the expression.

Looks great , well done

I like those penetrating eyes Diane.

Tis a good drawing and whoever she is she has character! Our art group a few years ago did self portrait sketches for an intro to an exhibition: I can’t say any of them were very recognisable, especially mine! Tough job. Well done for doing this and showing us. x

Great drawing Diane. As said, selfies are difficult but keep going a very promising attempt.

Full of character, lovely big eyes.

Diane, a likeness or not there’s something very touching about this.

Not being rude about your drawing, but that is definitely NOT you!!!

There is truth and depth in the eyes Diane, very nicely done.

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind and considered comments. I've got a long way to go and although this bears no resemblance to me I do like the drawing.

I really like this especially the eyes. There's alot of emotion in them. It probably looks more like you than you think as we don't view ourselves in the way as other people.

Pencil on multimedia paper A4. I drew this from a photograph of mine. It was meant to be a self portrait but it looks nothing like me! Oh well, back to the drawing board! I've actually grown to like her whoever she is!
