Karen Wadkin

Biography

I've always loved art from been very little. I would spend hours looking at books of various artists. I found it a way of escaping. I loved colouring as a very young child. I progressed to creating my own art mainly copying photos in books of animals and musicians that I liked such as the members of Manic Street Preachers. I stopped doing art for a while. But then I met someone who encouraged me to pick it up again. I mainly did this to express my feelings and was a form of therapy. I once again stopped for a while. But more recently since COVID. I've started again. I guess this is one positive thing to come out of COVID. The negative is my anxiety is much more extreme now. I suffer with depression and Agoraphobia, always have. It's difficult to get out to take photos for me to do art work from. But I do have a field a short distance from where I live and manage to go there. I'm determined to now keep going with my art and see where it leads me. I find it really helps with my mental health. It gives me a sense of achievement and happiness.
