Great effect. The enforced limitation on the use of colour has worked really well. I've had the same experience with the lids seizing up. I found that holding the bottle (or tube of paint) away from you, tilted downwards to avoid scalding the fingers, and pouring just-boiled water from the kettle over the lid almost always does the trick. immediately.
