Hashing is social exercise in the form of running, no winners, no time trials, do your own pace, stop when you feel like it, have a pint on the way round and as we are internnationally known Drinkers with Running Problem, a pint or three when back. My wife and I plus family have hashed all over UK, Europe, USA, Middle East, Far East and Australia

I like your loose style Derek. Creative, yet easy to understand. The brain should fill in the blanks.

Cheery subjects and lovely free style Derek. You know how to enjoy yourself. I now know what hashing is and it seems a great thing. You express your freedom in your work. Thank goodness for freedom, probably the most important philosophical concept in our lives. Let's keep it going! I agree about national traits. I always think my lack of planning and detail is my Irish bit. I love it. What of it?

Lovely, lovely Derek . Nice happy memories. Full of colour and life. I was on my course (with Roger Deller) a couple of weeks ago ,in Portugal and we had a Japanese girl in the group. Her work and mine were, and are quite different, but we still both had great enjoyment from our efforts.

Nice pics Derek..

Thanks Sylvia and Peter

hi I love your style you captured these beautifully well done brilliant work xx

Love the hash idea and these are great little sketches. When I go out with others I am almost invariably the first to complete each sketch and move on - like you I love to work quick and loose without unnecessary detail.

Thanks Michael, that's me all over. fast and direct

Lovely sketches Derek ,sounds like a sport I would enjoy

Happy times Derek, great sketches! He will love the sketch I'm sure.

A Hash pal reached a landmark and organised a day out for 50 of us. Coach to CastleCombe for a run, while I joined a group of Japanese sketchers who happened to be there capturing this lovely village. It was compical trying to discuss our work with lack of language but the sketchbooks spoke for themselves. It was noticeable that all 11 of them were very precise, accurate and painstaking rather than the loose style I used. I think typical of their nation. Then we moved to Avebury Rings where we had a fanstastic picnic and I took that opportunity to capture some of the seated gang scoffing and chatting. I am to give the village scene to the bloke whose day out it was, known as Sunny Delight. We all have handles (nicknames)

Eleventyeight as my hashing pals called my new age recently, it's supposed to sound better. Trying to paint every day in acrylics using only expired credit/debit cards, and partially succeeding as they're only for me and not show these days.
