The pigeons were the result of my messy hands.

Looks good Derek, like the way you have painted this.

Thanks David, it was quite arduous for me.

No failure this - great result Derek.

Both brilliant and beautiful Derek love it

Nice painting Derek and well painted

Thanks Michael, dennis and dennis. It would have been great to be there and capture it in real life.

It's great Derek, you have done a good job with this.

Definitely not a failure! Very hard subject! You did well!

Derek it's terrific...especially the pigeons!

It's fantastic. I admire your grit and determination.

This is great Derek I like the nice relaxed style much better than the formal style and it reminds me so much of when I was there during the Carnival & I had my photo taken by a professional photographer wearing my costume !!

Thank you Margaret, Linda, Fiona, Gudrun and Donna. Relaxed?? You should have seen the - no... Were you in mardi gras gear Donna?

It's a beauty Derek , I like Jakes direct style he also works his darks up first if memory serves me right . This painting sparkles excellent work

Thanks Dermot and yes you're right about the darks first

33 x 25cm on acrylic paper. Another in his article in the Artist magazine. Far more complicated than usual and I wanted to push myself and failed. It was intended to be in my style but I soon realised that is too crude to get the wet in wet subleties that the master does, so then I reverted to using a well beaten up size 0 System 3 brush after doing the three main darks with the cards. As expected my brush work suffers from lack of dexterity, shaky hands but it was helped by the splayed state of the brush which couldn't produce a clean line if it tried. Blame the tools Derek.

Eleventyeight as my hashing pals called my new age recently, it's supposed to sound better. Trying to paint every day in acrylics using only expired credit/debit cards, and partially succeeding as they're only for me and not show these days.
