I can't help wonder if the little figure was a happy accident, but it makes the painting live.

The moonlight on the side of the house looks great, loads of atmosphere and great tonal use.a very piece of work Derek..

Must admit totally blind to that but yes it is and well spotted Tony. I like figures in my work accidental or not..

Cheers Andre, from you that's smashing.

Lovely piece and application Derek. Credit to you

Cheers dennis, debit as well, just agreed to have a decorator in for the hall stairs and landing.

Agree with all comments, a great piece Derek.

Yes, very great, Derek!

We can't do everything Derek. You can critique him

This is very effective Derek, Childe has done some interesting work - I particularly like his "Peonies".

Thanks Russell, dennis, Cesare, Frank and Gudrun. WC could be a small room but to me it is WetCanvas a huge art website I have been in for years.

Great composition Derek and very effective purple complementing the yellow wall and also on the edge of the fence popping toward the viewer

Lovely scene and I like how the tree grows out of the painting too!

That splash of yellow is a supper balance to all the blue Derek, brings the whole scene to life.

Like that intense blue sky, after Childe but definitely not childish! Someone had to say it!

Nice work Derek. It's all been said!

Love the colours, light and shadow Dennis.

Great combination of colours, Derek, and like the way you've applied the paint with some areas left white, gives it a nice fresh feel.

Thanks Sarah, Fiona, Stephen, Jenny, Janet and Carole all very much appreciated

Childe Hassam was the painter I copied most when I started art lessons. He had such vibrant brushwork and palette, and you've really captured a lot of the essence of his style in your piece, Derek, while still making this work your own. Well done!

Wonderful use of complementary colours - dramatic and atmospheric

Thanks Seok and Pat

Works brilliantly Derek another cracker

14 x 12cms on 300 rough sample. I fancied a textured ground and small, so this is my take on a USA painter I'd never heard of but glad I found him via WC. Cards as usual.

Eleventyeight as my hashing pals called my new age recently, it's supposed to sound better. Trying to paint every day in acrylics using only expired credit/debit cards, and partially succeeding as they're only for me and not show these days.
