Wow Derek, this is really excellent, love the semi abstract feel to it and the shapes and marks you've achieved using the cards. You should post the original too , for comparison.

Wow that's quick sweetie,
Thanks and I will, just before I embark on my next piece - watch this space

Both the sketch and the painting have a vivid dynamism about them that's really very arresting, Derek. And the textural quality of this piece is super.

Having viewed the original first, I prefer the original, having said that the two are nothing alike, with this version being abstract of the first. But still an excellent version.

Cheers Seok and Andre, been busy in Collioure this morning.

I like this Derek. I think the colours you have used have a very Fauvist feel reminiscent of Matisse etc. Very apt for Collioure. I like the on site version too albeit quite different.

Thank you Janet. I don't worry a lot about colours using whatever I have on the palette from the last few paintings, topped up now and then.
My wife always likes my sketches rather than the finished works.

You know by now: This is my favourite version, Derek. (If only the light was good enough to paint in the shed!! Fed up with little sketches done indoors.)

The lovely town of Collioure, been there many many times when we lived near Perpignan. You have beautifully captured the busy market, Derek and the colours also are so typical for Catalonia. Great painting!

Derek, what an idiot I am! I started looking at the most recent in the Gallery and finally saw this. Well, it certainly stands up against the originals and maybe the " modernists" would have accepted this version.

This one is really colourful I like them both Derek.

Thanks Frank, Satu, Marjorie and Marjorie.
I am now on a WIP stage by stage of the latest version but a different scene already in my gallery.

A great dynamic and vibrant semi abstract painting Derek..Can see you really enjoyed doing this!!

Thank you Chandra. Yes I did, i had the original oil alongside to refer to a bit .

Derek brilliant effort, looks like a matisse !great control of a few colours giving an overall harmony to the picture David Harrison

Eleventyeight as my hashing pals called my new age recently, it's supposed to sound better. Trying to paint every day in acrylics using only expired credit/debit cards, and partially succeeding as they're only for me and not show these days.
