Balloon Over the Alhambra

This is nice and loose. I stayed in the Alhambra Palace Parador a couple of years ago, the week before Xmas. All the Xmas lights over the city, I have tried to paint the effect from photos but havent caught the atmosphere, Your picture reminded me and I think I will have another go at the subject. My first two attempts have been collage,watercolour and pastel. I think I went over the top and maybe now I will have a more reflective attempt. thanks for posting this

Good painting Derek! Not sure what size it is but I'm imagining it to be large scale - would look impressive on a large canvas. I like the way my eye is drawn to the white church tower just to the right of centre as you look down the street. Plenty to keep you interested - the sign of excellent work.

I like this with the crowded little dwellings. Has an semi-abstract feel. Good to have as a reminder of your happy holiday.
