Near Mungrisdale.
This was painted on the extreme northern boundary of the National Park. It is usually much quieter up here , certainly quieter than Keswick! Often, after a morning painting, we'd have lunch in a little pub in the village. Once we were served outside by a young lad who was wearing one red sock and one blue one. When I pointed out that he was wearing odd socks, he looked down, though a second then told me that he had another pair like that at home!
