The passing of time

Interesting effect and gorgeous colours in the background. I like both elements individually but I am not sure that I feel that they go together as I can't quite get the connection. Perhaps I am just being a bit dim.

Great colors and effect in the background, and the shells really stand out and look 3d. The background reminds me of a wooden decking, that often goes tho sand dunes.

Hi Thea, for me the connection is the passage of time. For me time is never regular like the backgound and alwaysis layered with so much activity. The shells also show the passage of time as they are slowly worn away by the activity of the sea and it's creatures. So for me, totally connected. A friend also commented that the backgound was like the wood and rust I had been painting which was also affected by time. Perhaps my subconcious was working here.

This is my first atempt at adding some metal point to my watercolours. The backgound is all watercolour and then the shells are gesso with a tint of watercolour and gold point on top. Great fun.
