Lovely shading and nice hair. First thing that strikes me are the eyes - they look a little to large for the face. The gap between the bridge of the nose is usually the same size as the width of the eyes - generally, The corners of the mouth are usually in line with the pupils even when smiling. Study her eyes have you given her a pupil as well as the iris. That all said this is a very good attempt and I have just noticed her earing. Well done.

Thanks Jeannette, looking at the picture now after your comments - I can see all the little errors that would of made this picture better. Many thanks for taking the time to comment - it is very useful. Debi

I agree with the above and would suggest that the eyelashes are rather too pronounced and go too far along the eyelid. If you look at your own in a mirror , you will see they don't all curl up and the ones nearer the nose are not really visible. They are also different lengths. Also, if you think of the eye as a ball, the ball continues up under the eyelid and the crease on the eyelid usually follows the shape of the ball. Lovely shine on the hair and good shading on her face and neck.

Thanks so much for this Diana, now I look at it again I can see what you mean - although in the picture that I was drawing from she is wearing alot of makeup, so her eyes and lashes do look longer. I need to practice the eyes as I can't seem to get them right - are they any website where I could pick up tips on how to draw them? Again many thanks on your comments Can't wait to do another picture and see how this goes. Debi

Deborah, Thank you so much for your very kind comments on my work. A book I can suggest for you is Drawing and Painting people by John Raynes. It is excellent. Best wishes Jeannette x

Deborah Thank you for your lovely comments on my giraffe. Here's one video on how to draw eyes on YOu Tube but there are dozens more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7WAL7D_Hig&feature=related

The computor crashed as I was typing a reply so apologise if this is here twice. Thanks fro the information. Diana just watched U tube - he makes it look so easy even with a broken pencil. Going to see if I can get the book that Jeannette has suggested now. Hopefully practice makes perfect . Debi
