Great painting, love the fur, but I would have used a darker background for contrast. (That's my opinion)

I too thought the cow and background are too alike but the cow is lovely.

I agree with Lorraine & Diana, a darker background would have given more impact to the cow.

Thank you everyone for all your constructive comments, glad you like the cow but I am afraid I am leaving the background as it is, because I don't want to spoil it and I might do, if you see what I mean.
