Like the style her Dawn and the rich foreground colours. The mediums you have used are very effective here.

Thanks, Carole. It's the first time I have used the gold on black. It looks really shiny in real life.

A lovely idea of using gold gesso, I m sure it reflects much more than a photo. It's nice to paint places with memories.

Yes, Lesley. It gives s luminescence, which I thought suited reflecting on the past.

Lovely golds which shimmer and reflect the scene well!

Interesting combination Dawn, I like it!

Thank you, Alan. Not something I have used before, but I do like the effect.

It’s nice to experiment, Dawn. I love the way the sky looks. Really effective.

Thank you, Ellen. Great fun too.

Beautiful colours Dawn.

This was from my own ref photo taken on a dog walk with my dad. It's an area I used to play in as a child, by the canal, looking back towards the mills of my hometown, Leigh. Watercolour and inktense on black paper painted with gold gesso.

About the Artist
Dawn Halliwell
