Good record David of this perhaps soon disappearing old building. There is a large mill near me, which in my youth was a super Accrington brick built structure, with a lovely copper dome on the tower. I think the councils policy is to let it decay, until it is unsafe and then Brish Heritage have to let them demolish it and as you say built a horrible modern warehouse. I will now get off my soap box!

Could be renovated into top class flats, really interesting structure a shame for it to go, beautiful!

What a great painting and i like the story behind it.

Marvellous record created here David. You are so right about the 'modern attitude ' towards this type of building, possibly will be replaced with some steel structure with cladding!! Must be an age thing!!!

Buildings gone, jobs gone - I hope this one can be saved, but it looks like there's only a shell left; entirely agree with you about the loss of our architecture and its replacement by tat - badly-designed, badly-built, ugly and brutal. Get your painting shown locally - it might even spur an attempt to save this building: it's certainly good enough.

A lovely old building., a shame these are all disappearing

If demolished you will still have this superb painting as a memory David.

What a wonderful painting. It really illustrates the building's character

A backwater of Birmingham, Belmont Row was once an area full of factories warehouses, now gone. One building a magnificent example of Victorian industrial architechture that as the area lost its importance this co-op factory ,which produced furniture was abandoned are fell into dis-repair . a fire in2007destroyed the building and storms the same year bought down the roof ,and some of the facade. Whether re-development of the area will cause its renovation is unknown, but this wonderfull building may join the modern trend of demolition , a sad end indeed if it is replaced by the unimaginative architecture that would replace it !!
