Inside the great victorian conservatory at Chiswick House, West London. It was the patterns of the shadows on the floor, and the structure of the building as it receded into the distance that inspired me to paint this scene. It's probably taken longer than any painting I've ever done but I think I'm happy wi th it. Now must resist the temptation to fiddle about with it!
