What a good idea. i've never painted an ex. Painted my husband though. It is a lot easier to paint a face that you are very familiar with. Well done!

A4 watercolour. I wasn't too happy with the sketch, rubbed half of it out and then tried to work more instinctively and with less strict adherence to my source. The flowers I kind of did half heartedly and tried to paint a bit more loosely. I think I got her likeness much better in paint than the sketch.

Inspired by an artist friend I came back to paint a bit at the end of 2017. At the moment I am enjoying it and maybe because I have the patience to look more than I once did I am finding it easier and more enjoyable to actually produce a likeness.
