Thank you all for the kind comments. In answer to Faye it is my first attempt with acrylics on watercolour paper. I think I will need more practice on watercolour paper before I can be more sure but I think it is probably more absorbent than canvas when applying acrylic in thin watery washes which I may find helpful. A little flow improver added to the water I think helps but I found that if you add too much of it to the water then you are at risk of the paint layer breaking up. With this picture I started off in thin watery washes and then went a little thicker with the trees and deer in subsequent layers.
