can't do this one Paul it spooks me. but it must have something to have that effect. go for the O C A I am sure you would do well.

I've done two courses with the OCA and they are well worth the money. This is a dark and emotive piece but well painted.

Not an image one would want to encounter standing at the door - but leaving that aside (and there's nothing whatsoever wrong with giving people the willies!) what I do like about this is the thicker and richer paint on the left side of the picture - there's more than one way to paint in oil, but personally I always go for the more sculptural aspects: it brings out colour, and oil is better than anything else for that sort of painting. As for the OCA, if you've got the money, go for it - I wouldn't: too old, set in my ways, resistant to instruction or frankly even well-meant advice! But if you're open minded and keen to learn, and prepared for quite intensive study, have a go while you're in the mood - you'll only regret it if you want to do it but don't.

I painted this and other pictures in 2001. It's hard to think back to what I was thinking at the time, I do remember getting an image in my head and having to get it all down on the canvas in one go. Since 2001 I haven't painted which I regret - I have put these pictures up here to try and get some idea of artists opinion. I would like to start again, perhaps study art with the OCA maybe. Thanks in advance for any comments.
