Portrait 10 with city view

A very skilful portrait Michael and an interesting and unusual composition with the view behind. Personally I don’t think I’d do any more to it, you risk losing the lovely loose feel you have at the moment. However, as always, your decision! I think most of us get to a point in a painting where we’re not quite sure if it’s complete-maybe that’s part of the challenge!

Hi Michael I think it all gels together perfectly excellent painting and great gallery

Really like the unusual setting of your portrait Michael. Works extremely well and is very skilfully painted. I like the lopsided smile which is mirrored in the shirt so don’t change anything there. In fact I wouldn’t change anything if I were you. The glass on the table and shadows are also lovely touches.

I agree with everyone's comments and I like the whole composition. The only thing that sits a little oddly with me is the angle of the table top of that small table but that's probably a detail too far, so ignore me!

It’s a strange one that Heather, from the original sitting the angle of the table was actually greater than I depicted as it didn’t look right to me. Maybe it’s an optical illusion of sorts.

I think this is a great portrait, but the table would annoy me. I certainly would change that.

No more fiddling. Great painting. I like the way you have played with the perspective. Makes it lively. The skyline and the angle of the body. Works for me.

Acrylic on canvas. So the dilemma we all seem to face at one time or another - is it finished? I think I have to stop as I’m fiddling now, but quite clearly the shirt needs finishing....or is it better rough? So many other things need extra work but then will I overwork it. I’ll do what I always do, put it on here, hope for some feedback, and, after a while probably come back to it and look again.
