Horse Chestnuts (Conkers)

Comments

A very nice picture to support a nice memory.

Thank you Brian 👍

I still treat them like treasure. This painting is excellent, Craig. The stalks and cases are spot-on and the way you've rendered the glossy sheen of a newly opened conker is masterful.

Stunning - fabulous painting and that conker with shine knock-out!

Beautifu, Craig!

Thank you Roger, I do too, I'm still looking for that ultimate Conkers! 😍

Wonderful memories and a superb painting Craig. Conkers are beautiful aren’t they!

Great painting Craig, conkers are so nostalgic, have just collected some myself to paint.

I remember people could get quite vicious with those conkers....great memories though. Wonder if it was just a British tradition.

Great, like the shine on the chestnut.

Oil on panel 20cm x 30cm, painted with Brushes. When I was a young lad, every Sunday I would go to my Nan's and have a wonderful Sunday lunch. Each year when the horse chestnuts would fall. My uncle Les, (whom was actually my Grandads best friend from the war days) would greet me and my brothers with bags full of Conkers. It was like bags of treasure to us. We would spend ages picking the biggest and best Conkers. Once we finally did, off came our shoe laces and away we went. (A Celebration of my Childhood)
